Archeology Museum
Today at the Archeology Museum I learned so much about the Christian Medival period and also the prehistoric periods such as the bronze and iron periods. It was so interesting to see how tools had developed from just using rocks to actual swords and axes. I also thought it was so cool that even people from thousands of years ago were decorating things just like we do now. They carved pictures on their tools and also in the Chistian Medival period art was crucial to their worship. I loved the Alterpeice that featured many different saints, It was full of color and was a great example of what the art was like at this time.
The artifacts and paintings in this museum taught me so many things about history and the way people acted and thought during these different periods. By learning about how we as humans have developed and changed can teach us a lot about human nature in general and how we always are striving to become better and invent new ways of doing things. It also showed me that culture existed even during those times, their art showed what things were important to them and how they lived their lives surrounding themselves with certain things that eventually took on symbolic meanings for them.
I think the Archeology Museum contributes to Madrid as a cultural capital because it shows that they are dedicated to preserving history and allowing the public to have access to learn more about all these historical periods. It also shows that Madrid has a very diverse and complicated history because many different types of people have moved to Spain before it was even a country. The Iberians are one of these groups, their artifacts in the museum show that their culture came from a different background and yet they all come together to form what people now consider Spanish culture.
Loving the first pic, I think you should make horns a permanent thing! You do a great job of talking about how the museum adds to the culture of Madrid. It definitely preserves history and gives people easier access to these incredible artifacts and artwork. I like how you also talk about how the artwork shows us the diversity in Spain's culture and how it really is a melding of a bunch of different cultures.
ReplyDeleteI love this Betsy! The archaeology museum was so impressive. ReplyDeleteBetsy, I like that you highlighted the Christian Medieval period and the prehistoric period that we learned about in the Anthropology Museum. I agree with you that this museum contributes to Madrid being one of the cultural capitals because the museum is evidence of how much Spain values its rich history. Great post!
ReplyDeleteGreat post. I think you're totally right in the fact that museums preserve history! Historical artifacts significantly contribute to a city's significance because it allows the city to show off their history and possession of such artifacts. I think you were spot on in your post.
